It’s round up time, and a young son of a rancher wants to do his own thing by going to town and having some fun. His path crosses that of Bill and Jingles, and it raises some questions with them as they watch him ride away.
In town, the kid catches up on fun at the carnival with other boys who show him the sights. Meanwhile, Bill and Jingles get the word from his dad back on the ranch. Will Tad learn a lesson in how to pick up some fast, easy money? Is there hope that he’ll learn the value of working for his dollars? When Tad brings his friends home, will there be any conflicts? Especially with lawmen on hand at the ranch. Tad gets drawn deeper into a life of crime, but soon a line may have been crossed when a murder results from their robbery.
It doesn’t take long for Bill to catch up to the young upstarts, and despite the trouble that Tad was dragged into, Bill sees through the ordeal. Tad gets a fresh start, and justice is done.
PS: Points of note is the long rope that Tad’s dad gave him to go and do his thing. Even after falling for the lies of alleged friends, dad was still understanding, and forgiving of his errant son. Fortunately, the law was able to get to the real source of the crime. Credit for the lies was rightly attributed. Something that the real world doesn’t always succeed in doing.
Tad was playing a dangerous game. It looked like fun, but lead down a bad path. He thought he was trapped into the gang when he could have walked away. The sooner the better, but even late is better than never.
