In the Jot ‘Em Down store, the men are gathered to talk about the latest ordeal with their women. Both the men and women had formed their own protective societies, and the women seem to have the upper hand. With the men’s organization crushed, the women decide to stay banded, but now they need to figure out the new direction they want to take.
As a side note, Lum mentions the holiday on the next day, Washington’s Birthday. The guys discuss going fishing, but Abner is worried that Lizabeth might not let him. Lum tries to tell the story of Washington chopping down the cherry tree, but gets it a little mixed up. More facts about Washington come out that Abner doesn’t quite grasp.
Finally, word comes in about the latest decision from the ladies group. They want men to resign from their civic offices, and put a woman into them to run the town.
