Mary talks with her old boyfriend. She tries to break up, and he thinks she is jilting him for Boston Blackie. When he tries to get rough, she pulls a gun, and a shot ring out.

Farraday gets the call to investigate the murder, and the arson that was used to cover up details. In going through the clues, Farraday finds evidence that Boston Blackie could be involved. Especially when there’s a letter, from Blackie to confess his part in the crime. As much as Farraday might like to hang a crime on his nemesis, Boston Blackie, even he smells a rat in the evidence.

Blackie is able to warn Mary that she is being looked for by the cops. He gets the jump on the details from her and starts his own investigation. Putting the clues together, Blackie has reason to believe the murdered man has been misidentified, and it’s really someone else who is dead. He has to figure out why the dental records proved the wrong identity. When he can do that, he’ll have a case to hand to the cops to prove who really died, and who actually did the killing.
