Jack Benny – Skit, My Life As A Floorwalker. 340225

Audio is a bit on the mushy side, and the show starts already in progress. Just in time for a commercial and a clipped song from Frank Parker.

Jack tries to present his play, but gets a string of interruptions including from the sponsor, cast members over their pay, and mistaken identity. Jack gets a letter. The fan writing has a question about the previous week’s drama, and requests the theme continue.

After another snipped number, Jack presents a drama about his life as a floorwalker. He helps lady shoppers find the items they want in the department store. Puns and pop culture topics of the times run rampant. Amazingly the final song seems intact. Frank Parker plays, Paper Moon.

PS: The crazy hassles are a switch from how Jack would handle department store scenes. Most notably in his Christmas episodes where he would torment Mel Blanc as the harried store clerk.
