Vic and Sade – Vegetable Garden. 400112

A black and white photo of an old-fashioned movie theater marquee with the name "Bijou" in large letters at the top. The marquee features several movie titles, including "The Lone Ranger Returns" and "East of Eden." A few people are visible walking past the theater on the sidewalk.
Rush Gook, who was born Victor Rush Meadows and adopted at age nine, is his usual garulous self, providing all the latest news from Edwards High School.

Rush and Vic have had their rousing game of rummy interrupted by an announcement from Sade. She can’t believe the menfolk aren’t as excited over having a garden as she is. Just knock her down with a feather.

Can you blame them? Sade expects the guys to do the work of planting, hoeing, and general tending, but both Vic and Rush resent the additional work after their usual workdays. Vic is a softened office professional, and Rush is a typical teen who has a busy social life to keep up with. Gardening is just too much like hard work.

Sade entices her men with the rewards of having fresh vegetables, but will it be enough to motivate Vic and Rush? All that is asked is that a portion of the harvest be given back to the lady who owns the land and gardening tools. Still, Rush and Vic are just too citified to go for it. What will our gang do with such a windfall? Somebody knocks Sade over with a feather.
