The widow Beaumont has placed an ad for a hired man, with the ultimate goal of matrimony. Lum has been interested in pursuing the job, and the wealthy widow. He talks with Abner about the income from the widow that will help with plans for their new tourist camp. Abner gets confused over why Lum would get married for money, and the whole situation.
Can Abner talk Lum out of a rash marriage? Abner goes to leave to work at the new camp, and Squire pops into the Jot ‘Em Down store to talk business with Lum. A telegram arrives from the widow, but is it good news, or bad?
