Lum and Abner – Operating A Post Office. 400103

Chet Lauck and Norris Goff wearing a suit and tie smiling at the camera. Sitting in front of a radio microphone, one holding a script and the other adjusting his glasses -

Lum and Abner had tried to run their own Post Office, but learned it is illegal. Today, they share their fears of what might happen if the government found out about their attempt.

Is a government man sneaking around? The venture wasn’t profitable anyway, and the guy’s lost money on their efforts, surely the government won’t hold them to anything. Will they? The worry gets put on the shelf when Abner reminds Lum that they need to inventory the store. Well, if they can.

Abner gets confused by a figure of speech about pulling strings, and tied up hands. Lum is rescued by an agent from the FBI. This looks bad.

PS: Though the run of episodes had been virtually non-existent over the previous couple of years, partly in taking time away to make movies, the preceding story line is lost. The good news is that the upcoming set of shows has been preserved, so keep on enjoying as Lum and Abner enter the 1940’s the war years, and more of their movie career.

Seven movies were made, but the copyright on them is still held by the Lauck family. I have a couple in mp4 format, but I’m not sure I can post them. If people are interested, email me to let me know. I’ll see what I can do for you.
