Jim and Mary and Jordan posing for the camera in 1941. The vintage black and white illustration of a couple sitting in a cozy living room. Fibber is holding a newspaper and Molly is knitting. They are both looking at a small dog that is sitting on a rug between them. The room is decorated with a patterned wallpaper, framed pictures, and a vase with flowers on a table in the background."

Hair is the topic of the day, and we find Fibber in a barber shop, with a heavily accented barber who serves him. Is six bits (75 cents) too much to ask to wash a guy’s hair? The highway robbery is enough to send Fibber storming out to tend to his own hygiene. What will Molly and Alice think about the high price at the barbershop. The ladies pay more than that on their hairdos. The girls switch the topic to zodiac signs. Is Fibber affected by the signs in the stars? Billy Mills plays, Fascinating Rhythm.

Complaints about having to take turns with the bathroom, and supply of hot water is an issue. Beulah enters to get in her two cents on hair care. The ladies think the prices at the barbershop are reasonable. But is there new competition for the hot water? On the phone, Fibber learns that Mirt the phone operator has a brother who dropped 1500 feet out of… at what? Harlowe Wilcox enters to hear of the hot water dilemma, and sell some of the sponsor’s product.

That sounds like Nick Depopolis! He’s a semi regular at one point in the show.

Bill Davis was the voice actor who originally supplied the voice for Nick, as well as the old timer, Mr. Wemple, and a variety of others. As noted in my show notes, at this time he was away in the Navy. When he returned, many of the old characters like a ratio boomer, Nick and others didn’t return. Not sure why. The barber character in this episode is certainly a one off of the original Nick character, but I don’t think he ever made a full return.
