Command Performance – Jack Benny, James Cagney. ep156, 441230

"Dancing silhouettes" - A black and white image featuring the silhouettes of two people dancing together, captured in mid-motion. The figures are set against a light background and the lines of their bodies are sharp and angular. The woman's dress and the man's suit are clearly defined, while their faces are left blank, creating a sense of anonymity. The image evokes a feeling of joy and movement, as the couple appears to be lost in the rhythm of the dance.

Audio isn’t so good. Jack Benny and Deanna Durbin talk about his recent USO tour to the South Pacific, and generally tell jokes and puns. Deanna sings, Walk Alone. Deanna introduces Tommy Dorsey, who jokes with Jack and Deanna before introducing his all-star band and playing a swinging, jazzy tune.

Jack plays a few bars of, Ida Sweet as Apple Cider. When Jack and Deanna get into a little disagreement, Jack brags that he just beat up Jimmy Cagney. Ginger Rogers is on hand to talk about Jack’s alleged fight with Cagney. Then Jimmy shows up to bring the ordeal back to jack. The details of their car accident emerge in the hilarious argument.

The girls dip into the mailbag, and in response to a request, Jimmy is to put on the tough guy act and let somebody have it. it appears that jack is going to be the target of his toughness. Jimmy also responds to requests, and is called on to sing some tunes from his films, particularly, Yankee Doodle Dandy.
