Burns and Allen – Gracie’s Christmas Party, Jane Wyman Substitutes. 471225

Three kings kneeling, with stars in the background.

When Gracie has taken a real-life illness, a special guest star stands in to read her lines at the last moment. Jane Wyman is no Gracie, but her performance isn’t a bad one.

In getting ready for their Christmas party, George and Gracie talk to their neighbor from Texas, Judson. Who else will be showing up for the party? Bill Goodwin agrees if he can make a sales pitch for the sponsor. Meredeth Willson tells about his hot date with a cute French gal, Fefe. Even a doctor neighbor and his little son Bobby are invited. If they can pull themselves away from playing with toy trains.

Back home George and the substitute Gracie trim the tree, and make final preparations. Can they sneak in a tactful way to get their guests to ask George to sing? Meredeth Willson plays, Toyland.
Gracie keeps messing up her segway lines to lure their victims into asking George to sing, and everybody else including Gracie gets a chance to sing before George does. Will they ever get the hint?
