Rogue goes into flashback mode to tell how his date with Liza was interrupted. His crooning to the gal ends when a phone call draws him out to see a client. Mrs. Burgess is young, hot looking, and rich. She also suspects her husband of cheating on her with his secretary. The mundane and boring case of getting evidence to support a divorce trial is nearly brushed off. Going to confront the husband, Harvey, things get serious fast. There’s a scream, and a thump on the head.
It’s time to get the cops on the case, but Rogue leaves the crime scene when he thinks he knows where to find the killer. Things seem a little too convenient when Helen, the secretary, is found dead from a suicide.
The rainfall of the day provides the clue that clenches the case for Rogue, and gives him the hard evidence to confront the real killer.
As he turns the crooks over to the cops, he explains it all. What about his date with Liza that he told to open the story? Even more puzzling, how can a guy as smart as Rogue is, manage to get thumped on the head so much?
