A close-up photograph of a roasted turkey placed on a table next to a lit fireplace. The turkey is golden-brown and has a crispy exterior, and its wings and legs are neatly tucked in. The table is set with autumn-themed decorations and a few dishes, while the fireplace provides a warm and cozy ambiance with burning logs and a mantle adorned with candles and foliage.

Getting groceries together for his Thanksgiving, Abner tells about the anticipated festivities at home. Where will Lum be going for Thanksgiving? Folks in town always invite Lum, when will he ever invite anybody over to his place? Not even pouting over a can of sardines will win the sympathy of Abner, and a home cooked meal by Lizabeth.

A letter from aunt Clara in Cheboygan Falls gives Lum the bird. A prize bird from her farm that is.
Opie is sent to the express office to bring the bird to Lum. Invitations go out, and Lum maps out a diagram, much like parceling out real estate on the turkey.

Lum is surprised to find that Opie hasn’t left yet, but he has been kept busy helping out out at his uncle Luke’s lunch counter. As he departs, Luke barges in to gripe about the loss of his employee. Lum calms the cantankerous cook by inviting him to his Thanksgiving feast. Andy has a problem with the dinner. He’s wasting away with hunger, abstaining from eating so he can eat more turkey. Bad news arrives when Opie phones in to say that he, and the bird, are in jail. Opie plays, Calling All Clarinets.

Lum springs for bail, but there’s still no sign of Opie,.
The latest news is that he’s having engine trouble in Cherry Hill, and the turkey is missing. Company begins to arrive when Zazu pitts arrives early to visit her dream man, Lum. Lum’s worries explode when he has no turkey, and no meal for his guests. To distract everybody, Lum tells the story of the pilgrims, and the first Thanksgiving. Pilgrims, Columbus, floods for 40 days, and other convoluted history. Indians, Bank of England, the Super Chief, and more all fill his account. Who cares, when do we eat? As the guests discover the lack of food, Opie saves the day. Just as sooon as they kill the live turkey… er… prize canary.
