Fibber McGee and Molly – Fibber Shops For New Shoelaces. ep487, 461022

A black and white photograph of Fibber McGee and Molly, a couple from a popular radio show of the same name. They are standing in front of a closet that has been opened, with clothes and other items spilling out onto the floor. Fibber is holding a mop and wearing an apron, while Molly looks on with a smile on her face. The overall effect is one of humor and domesticity, with the couple's playful antics and cluttered living space providing a snapshot of life in mid-century America in 1948.

Audio is noisy, skips in spots, and resolution is low. Discussion about style and fashion finds the McGee’s being visited by Elsie the gal from the beauty parlor. She gets in her ideas on style and fashion. On their way out to do some shopping at the Bon Ton department store, a quick trip to the hall closet is made. Billy Mills plays, South America Take It Away.

A mob of people await the McGee’s in the store, including police officer Mulcahy who gets a hard time from Fibber. A floorwalker offers a little help in finding the shoe laces that Fibber is looking for. Doc Gamble is on hand to be picked on. He’s looking for a gift for his girlfriend’s birthday. As the commercial arrives, the audio skips around a lot. Miss Fiddle trim approaches Fibber about an order he placed in her department. The Kings men sing, California Way.

As Molly talks about her game of bridge, Mayor Latrivia enters the scene, and McGee tells the secret gift that his rival, Doc Gamble is giving to their mutual girlfriend Fifi Tremaine. The McGees get him flustered when he mentions seeing the play, Oklahoma. The floorwalker is back to talk about a back ordered item for Fibber. Will he ever get his shoe strings?

Note: The floorwalker is Gale Gordon.
