In the holiday spirit, Rochester sings a Mexican ditty, while Jack dresses in his costume as Romeo for the masquerade party. Mary has her camp fire girl costume on under her fur coat. Jack runs down the list of Hollywood celebrities he invited. With Mrs. Day doing all the food prep, Mary and Rochester worry about Jack’s safety. When she asks about iodine, Jack shouldn’t have any worries… right? Dennis Day sings, Tearing Up My Heart.
Don arrives as what else… a heaping bowl of Jell-o. Rochester complains about Carmichael as he gets the door. Phil and the band arrive. Rochester gets caught spiking the punchbowl. How’s the meal coming along? Is Jack sure he shouldn’t be worrying? Andy Divine arrives, disguised as a ghost. Phil and Mary sing, and the gang join in with sponsor flavored lyrics, Make with the Kisses.
The meal is brought out, and is more lavish than Jack’s typical parties.
What kind of games will the cast play after dinner? When Carmichael gets loose, it could change the party plans, if it weren’t for Mrs. Day keeping the critter under control.
Note: Now that they’re friends, Mrs. Day says Jack can call her by her first name, Lucretia. The name of a villain in the play, Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
