Cynthia is the harried wife of a high powered and demanding man, Randy. He’s the kind of man to plan things to the minute, and worry over details of his shirts and suits? A secret from his past is being used to blackmail him by another man with equal attention to detail. Elsewhere, a detective shares with a newspaper reporter how easy it is to catch the killer with a complicated plan. Where a stupid person who might kill in a moment of passion might have their crime go unsolved.
Randy takes the information to heart, to make sure his next meeting with Mr Broden is his last. Just thinking about his attempt at the stupid crime distracts Randy and makes him more snippy than normal with his wife. Jumpiness swings to an almost overly cool mood as the big day arrives. On the dark night, near the fountain in the park, the deed is done. Only there’s an unexpected witness to avoid. Randy won’t be identifyable on such a dark night, will he?
Has Randy thought of everything? There’s a message from his cop friend about the latest stupid murder in the park. There’s no connection between the dead Mr Broden and Randy, is there?
The Whistler has the final word on a twist of fate that seals Randy’s doom.
