Previously, Clark and Perry were in the woods to look for Lois Lane. She had been kidnapped by Chip Donelli, but escaped and set the cottage on fire. A crashing through the woods turns out to be a local farmer, and as he talks with Clark and Perry they smell smoke.
Elsewhere, Donelli and his henchman Spike decide to start another fire in the woods to burn out their pursuers. Including the missing Lois, and Jimmy who has went off on his own to find her. Lois is found by Jimmy and she has a suitcase full of important papers, but her twisted ankle won’t let her move very fast.
The smoke gets thick as the flames blaze higher and higher. Superman battles the flames by beating them out with a pine tree. He finally locates Lois and Jimmy in the darkness of the smoke and flies them to safety. Jimmy thinks the voice he hears was Clarks, but in the dark he couldn’t see, and he felt like he was flying. Hey imagine that.
Meanwhile Donelli has planted a threatening box in the roadway where Superman and his friends will be sure to travel.
Note: I think the story actually skips over an episode, and this one is actually number 5 in the series. The show I have for part 5 is the same as this one. In the archives where I found these, and others all seem to duplicate this episode. So watch for the conclusion later, when part 6 is posted.
