Clark Kent sits at his desk, knocking out his story on the Chip Donelli gang. Jimmy tells Clark about an airplane story where there’s a series of crashes out West at Bridger Field. Perry calls Clark into his office to assign Clark to the airplane story. in 2 weeks, 6 transport planes have crashed. What’s the story? Even the airport professional doesn’t know.

Clark gets the low down on the facts that are known thus far. The most unique part of the whole ordeal is that every downed plane has had the engines missing.

On the plane ride out West, a stow away is discovered, it’s Jimmy. Suddenly, the pilot has been shot, and a plane with machine guns glies by, taking shots at Clark’s plane. As Jimmy flies, Clark steps out on the wing, aledgedly to shoot back, but it’s the chance that Superman needs to spring into action.

Superman takes care of the shooting plane, but back inside, the plane’s engines begin to sputter. Who would want to shoot them down? Can they get help for their injured pilot? Stay tuned for answers in the next episode.

PS: in the early 1940’s and earlier, it wasn’t uncommon for the pilot to carry a pistol in the cockpit, so Clark could very well be going on the wing to shoot back.
