Molly, and Mrs Carstairs chat in the beauty parlor, comparing notes on how they each remind their husbands about their anniversaries. Will the new hairdo and dress do the trick? The mention of an old flame, Otis Cadwalitter gets a rise out of Fibber, but he’s still clueless. Old Timer pops in to admire Molly’s new look, and mention Otis. Everybody likes the wealthy Mr Cadwalitter, except for Fibber. Billy Mills and the Orchestra play, Seems Like Old Times.
Trying to drop subtle hints to him, Fibber is still oblivious to Molly’s suggestions. Doc Gamble enters, and notices the new look, bbut will he help Fibber remember his special day? Fibber just shows more of the extent of his jealousy over Otis Cadwalitter. Molly plays piano snips of wedding songs, but Fibbertreads on thin ice at not getting the hint. Harlow Wilcox enters to use the theme of pitching woo and Otis Cadwalitter to spin up a commercil.
Molly’s hints get less subtle, but Fibber isn’t budging. Teeny enters with news of an engagement to Willie Tukes, and finally Fibber panics as he realizes the theme of the show. The Kingsmen sing, Out California Way.
Fibber beats himself up over forgetting his anniversary, when a flower delivery comes to the door. Can he substitute the card, and make Molly think he was just fooling her all the time? Mayor Latrivia enters to borrow a few egggs, and get frustrated over his comment on making batter cakes.
