The story of a successful bank robbery, and the man who pulled it off. Jack Benny plays Tom Jones, a man who never forgets a face. He goes into flashback to tell about a particular face he saw in the train station. Harry Edmond is a man who lived in Jack’s old neighborhood, but he’s the kind of gangster type who doesn’t want to be remembered. Seeing he can’t shake the well meaning Tom, Harry and his shady friend decide to set him up in the crime they have in store.
A visit to Harry’s boss is arranged, and the boss is impressed with Tom’s forgetable face, the way he is an unnoticeable kind of guy. All he has to do is carry a satchel, hand the bank teller a note, and take the bag full of loot back to the boss.
Tom has always felt neglected at the way people never notice him, and enjoys the newfound attention he’s getting. The lines in the bank move slowly, but finally the talkative Tom makes it to the front. Why is Tom’s new friends ditching him at the bank to fall into the hands of the cops?
As the police question the very tellers and people in the bank who Tom visited, nobody recognizes him. He does his best to have them remember him, but it isn’t until now that he realizes what he has done. Has he found a new profession that he can succeed in? Nah, he is too nice of a guy to consider it for more than a passing thought.
