At the moment, Superman is fighting crime on Spruce Street against the racketeers who extort protection money from shop owners. Clark Kent talks with Perry White about the story of how Chip Donelli has tried to beat up the hellpless Jimmy Olsen and his mom. Jimmy rushes in to report that a fake phone call came in pretending to be from Clark, in the process Lois Lane was kidnapped.
Clark feels responsible, and as Superman, he flies off to find Donelli. He quietly sneaks through a window, and overhears one of Doneli’s thugs in the next room. Seeing that Lois has been taken elsewhere, Superman roughs up the thug, but the crook dives out a window to his death without telling any secrets.
Superman returns to the Daily Planet as Clark. Perry wants to get the cops involved, but both Clark and Jimmy are concerned that Donelli might do something rash to Lois. Clark tries to stall Donelli when he phones in, but Perry has managed to trace the phone call. He wants to go along wit Clark, but Clark wants to handle this alone as Superman.
The news story is delayed until Lois can be returned safely, and our three heros head out in Perry’s car to confront Donelli in person.
Meanwhile, inthe hideout the gangsters are getting nervous. The plot thickens when Lois has escaped, kerosene has spilled all over the floor, incriminating papers are being burned. Will Chip Donelli get away and abandon Lois in the woods? Will the neighboring farmers call for the fire department? Will it even matter? Answers to all these questions will be answered in the next exciting adventure.
