We find Jack in his library, looking for some good reading. When he discovers Rochester’s diary. We are treated to some insights to gambling habits, and a good natured glimpse of asking Jack for a pay raise. Larry Stevens sings, Sleigh Ride in July.
Mel Blanc arrives and makes the first ever appearance of Jack’s longsuffering violin teacher. Jokes about music, violins, and frustrations that everythingthat Jack plays sounds alike. Phil Harris joins in with the fun, then plays a brief musical interlude.
Jack’s lessons continue, and Don slips in a word for the sponsor. Taking a break from Mary, Phil, and the gang, Jack takes a walk with his violin. Where’s he going? What’s he doing? Does it involve his violin in some way? The cast all speculate on these questions, then turn on the radio. Confusing messages about rationing are aired, as are wierd commercials, and radio announcer Frank Nelson let’s Jack play his instrument on the air.
In closing Jack shares an encouraging word over the end of the war in Europe, and the continued fighting in the Pacific. Not to mention his personal thought of his violin performance.
I love Professor LaBlanc. He is the greatest character on radio. No offense to Jack Benny.
