Fibber is trying to repair his door bell, but ends up with a dead telephone, and Molly wanting to go to the hardware store for some real help. Lynn Martin sings, I’ve Got to Pass Your House. The president of Johnson Wax appears to talk about the spectacular and unusual enterprise he is about to undertake. He describes how his expedition along with pilots, chemists, and botanists are going to remote reaches of Brasil, in search of carnuba wax to use in his product. The Orchestra plays, and the Merrymen sing, Dancing Cheek to Cheek.
As Fibber enjoys the newspaper, Molly abruptly reminds him he needs to clean the porch. He begins to find distractions to avoid the chore. He tries to tell about world events and the brewing war in Europe. A visitor pops in, Miss Witherspoon from the public library who talks to the McGee’s about reading and literature. Fibber brags about his uncle Mortimer, and his book collection. The Merrymen are back to sing, Double Trouble.
PS: Fibber brags about his exploits in the Signal Corps in the World War (the first one). He was indeed in that war, but I’m not certain what his job may have been. He may well have been in the Signal Corps, as he claims.
The librarian is played by Marian Jordan. She often did added voices in the early years, but after her absence from the show in 1939, she rarely did any except for Teeny.
