Lum and Abner – Abner Meets a Gabby Woman from Back Home in the Bus Depot. 480917

Two men dressed in traditional Hawaiian attire, Lum and Abner, are seen mid-dance in the center of a small store. Lum, on the left, is playing a ukulele while Abner on the right is swaying his hips and waving his arms. A small crowd is gathered around them, some clapping and others smiling. The store itself is cluttered with various items, including shelves of canned goods and hanging clothes, giving it a cozy and lived-in feel.

The mission at hand is to send Ben Withers safely back home. Abner takes him to the bus station to get his ticket. They meet a woman in line from back home. She proceeds to tell of the possible connections they may have. Why haven’t they ever met before?

The talkative woman may even have connections to folks in Mt Ida. Will she know any of the folks that Ben knows? How could she miss… especially with all the folks that he knows back there?

The woman gets annoying to Abner when she keeps falling back in line, and letting people cut in ahead of her. Ben begins to regret the choice of traveling. He just hates it when people talk at length about people they know, but you don’t. Though Abner doesn’t want to be in his position, riding with the woman, he insists that Ben get on the bus. There’s a last moment twist that ought to make Ben’s trip a more pleasant one.
