Lum and Abner – Modern, Luxurious Poor House in Pine Ridge. 480825

Two men dressed in traditional Hawaiian attire, Lum and Abner, are seen mid-dance in the center of a small store. Lum, on the left, is playing a ukulele while Abner on the right is swaying his hips and waving his arms. A small crowd is gathered around them, some clapping and others smiling. The store itself is cluttered with various items, including shelves of canned goods and hanging clothes, giving it a cozy and lived-in feel.

Abner still has a few possessions to get rid of, and Lum tells about owing Squire after the recent auction. With being on the verge of going to the poor house, Abner realizes there isn’t a poor house in town.

Should he or Lum bring it up at the next town meeting? Abner wants to pass a bill to petition for a modern, luxury poor house. Where should the new poor house be built? Abner would rather it not be over the hill. Maybe near a good fishing hole.

The house ought to have a bus, to take the poor residents to where they need to go. Cedric enters to change the subject, and instead of peanut butter, ends up with Abner’s phony oil stock.
