Lum and Abner – Discuss Way for Abner to Spend Money. 480827

Two men dressed in traditional Hawaiian attire, Lum and Abner, are seen mid-dance in the center of a small store. Lum, on the left, is playing a ukulele while Abner on the right is swaying his hips and waving his arms. A small crowd is gathered around them, some clapping and others smiling. The store itself is cluttered with various items, including shelves of canned goods and hanging clothes, giving it a cozy and lived-in feel.

With all of his possessions disposed of, Abner wonders exactly how much his $100k inheritance is. Lum tries to explain the magnitude of that much money. Will Abner be able to live long enough to spend it all? Will it place him in a higher class of friends?

Abner claims to never forget his friends, despite buying new things, and living in a new house. Lizabeth is just chomping at the bit to cast off her plow, and farm chores to life in the lap of luxury.
Lizabeth is shopping all the catalogs, books of etiquette, and how to be a debutant. The gents talk about the new table manners, and place settings that seem to be in Abner’s future. How will the new changes affect Lum? Quite a lot, since her formal dinner will be at Lum’s house.
