Lum and Abner – Abner’s Difficulty with Images Stamped on His Face with Indelible Ink. 480818

Two men dressed in traditional Hawaiian attire, Lum and Abner, are seen mid-dance in the center of a small store. Lum, on the left, is playing a ukulele while Abner on the right is swaying his hips and waving his arms. A small crowd is gathered around them, some clapping and others smiling. The store itself is cluttered with various items, including shelves of canned goods and hanging clothes, giving it a cozy and lived-in feel.

On a previous installment that apparently doesn’t exist, Abner had been playing with a stamp pad, and now has indelible ink on his face. Cedric enters the Jot ‘Em Down store to admire the markings. Is he advertising for folks? Abner shares some of the jokes and comments that people in town have made to him over the ink.

Even Lizabeth is up in arms at Abner’s face, and won’t let him back in the house. Lum enters, followed by Ben Withers. Can they come up with a way to remove the ink? The pressure is on, because Abner is to attend a party tonight with his wife.

Maybe some greasepaint to coat his face will work. Why is that greasepaint green? Now that he has been coated, what will Lizabeth and the rest think?
