Introducing that sophisticated humorist… Maxwell Stroud. Huh? It’s a joke, based on recent comments from Fred Allen on his show. Jack jokes with Don about Carmichael. Mary tells secrets on Jack’s antics with his polar bear to beg for money. Mary also shares a poem: Winter You Have Gone Away. Phil Harris plays, I’m Gonna Get Some Shut Eye.

As Jack introduces the play, he is interrupted by a disgruntled Kenny Baker. Interruptions abound, including a visit by Newspaper man, Ed Sullivan. Ed claims he’s there in his official capacity as a reporter. Is Jack really Maxwell Stroud? Can Jack prove his identity? Kenny sings, Deep Purple.

The play begins, with Jack as a clerk at the busy hotel desk. Wacky guests include Napoleon, a honeymooning couple, and even Phil Harris. When Maxwell Stroud checks in, Ed Sullivan is on hand to get the scoop. Will this turn into a murder mystery? Who done it? Er… make that… did it. Reporters, Murder, Mystery, Poems, Identity
