Lum and Abner – Ben Withers Takes over Investigation. 480617

Two men dressed in traditional Hawaiian attire, Lum and Abner, are seen mid-dance in the center of a small store. Lum, on the left, is playing a ukulele while Abner on the right is swaying his hips and waving his arms. A small crowd is gathered around them, some clapping and others smiling. The store itself is cluttered with various items, including shelves of canned goods and hanging clothes, giving it a cozy and lived-in feel.

The circus continues to play around several towns in the area. Now in Odin, Lum tells Abner that money has once again been stolen. If this keeps up there won’t be money to pay the performers, or feed the animals. It’s time to call for the law, and get constable, Ben Withers on the job.

Abner gets a little confused over Lum’s idea to set a trap. Should they set a bear trap… dig a pit and cover it up… bait the trap with fresh meat? Lum still thinks Squire is the most likely person, but Abner defends him. Lum defends against it being Zenor or her brother.

Ben Withers pops in, after admiring the monkeys, and other animals. He takes Lum’s words wrong, and right away thinks it’s Zenora’s brother. Ben sets out to question them, but Cedric brings word with incriminating news, Zenora and her brother have fled.
