Audio seems a bit mushy, and can be difficult to hear in spots.

The setting is on an island farm. The run down farm has been a challenge to sell, but finally, Sam MacDugal bought it. A drama reenacts the day Sam took charge of his investment. In voiceover we learn a few facts, namely that the woman that Sam showed up wasn’t his wife.

After a few more moments of voiceover and drama, we learn Sam’s plan is to trap the young lady and draw her to her death. Now why would that mean old Sam want to harm the helpless young lady? It seems to be all about money. Isn’t there anybody to help the por girl? Well, of course not, we wouldn’t have a murder mystery on our hands if she wasn’t killed.

Seeing as how the listener has been clued in from the beginning as to the unfolding murder mystery, the real question is how will our bad guy meet with justice? How will the cops catch up with him and make him pay? In voiceover we are told that Sam had begun to build up a reputation that was less than desireable for the local society. A stream of female house servants, rude behavior in general, and a man that seemed to have plenty of secrets that needed covering up. As bad as he was, there was never any solid grounds for legal charges.

Then the curious citezens began to wonder whatever happened to that gal who was supposed to be his wife? Sam’s story is doubted, but Sam doesn’t wait around. He empties his bank accounts and flies the coop, leaving a trail of forged bank notes along the way. . The abandond house and moat are inspected to look for nefarious activities, and clues to the wereabouts of Sam, but nothing noteworthy turns up.

It’s looking as though Sam has slipped past the law, but by now Scotland Yard has gotten on the trail of Sam. What will they find? Just the solid evidence to bring out the big guns to bear on a case of murder, and put an end to Sam.
