Shortly after the turn of the century, Casey has the most important job in the newsroom, to go get the latest story from O Henry. If he doesn’t have one… to see that he has one. Elsewhere, O Henry casually strums a guitar, and tells what his inspiration for his short stories is… people… being honest with the people he writes about. Will he have a story ready for Casey?
Instead, the case of writers block is met with a meal, and drinks. A bracelet, a lonely girl, and the weight of the world get the attention of the writer. Yet another distraction? Or will he shine a ray of hope in Sally’s world? A city of lost children, wandering in their wilderness of pain, seems too big a place for O Henry to find Sally. An elephant charm sends him on the race to find her.
Determined to climb every flight of stairs, and knock on every door, our little team of heroes set out. The search for Sally Blake spans into the wee hours of the morning. Will their worries for her be merited? As day breaks, and the wild night ends, Casey’s job is saved as the typewriter hammers out the story of a life saved by poverty. A suicide prevented over an unpaid gas bill.
