O Henry’s classic Christmas tale. Discovery of gold made the town of Yellow Hammer what it has become, a town of crusty old miners. Cherokee sets out on his Christmas mission, as the folks at Yellow Hammer await word.
To put on a shin dig, the biggest Christmas bash for the kiddies that anybody has ever seen, All manner of toys and truck for kids have been collected, and Cherokee is going to ride back to town in his red sleigh. The trouble? There’s not a single kid in town. Almost as bad, there’s only one woman folk in town, and she doesn’t have kids.
Not wanting to let Old Cherokee down, the town meets to see how they can give Santa Claus a square deal. Men scatter to rustle up all the kids they can find throughout the territory. With a family of 7 kids, you’d think pa could spare at least a few to party with Santa. As the posse reaches out to other settlers, excuses abound for not loaning out kids from the largest of families.
The days dwindle down to the deadline, but all that can be found is tough kid, Bobby. And he ain’t falling for believing in Santa. Cherokee is ready to do his part, but will the party be as big as he intended? Bobby don’t care about no fake Santa’s, or toys, all he wants is a rifle. Cherokee’s Christmas is about to take an unexpected turn when he takes Bobby home.
