Looking for his own loopholes, Mose Moots wants Lum’s wedding to go through. He hired a lawyer to come to town to see how legal the accidental marriage between Cedric and the widow actually is. Can Lum keep the lawyer distracted, or busy, or out of commission in doing his job? Abmner and Ben try keeping the lawyer busy on the phone.
Ben Withers rambles on about folks in Mt Idy, but the lawyer seems to have made a get away. Lum has to scramble to study up on some other way to keep the lawyer from gathering the legal evidence to nullify the marriage.
The clock is ticking, and its now a matter of hours before Lum’s deadline to keep his obligation arrives. Ben Withers enters with news about the stranger.
