Captain Friday recounts the story thus far, a tale of the claw footed man, the fresh corpses that have disappeared, and the recent stabbing of young Phillus. As Doc tends to the recovering Phillus, the sheriff grills Jimmy about his attack on his girlfriend. Why would he betray her, and try to kill her?
Captain Friday isn’t so sure Jimmy dit it, but if not him, then who and how?
Suddenly, doubt is cast on some of the behavior of Doc and Mayor, and though an outside party is point towards, Captain Friday is certain the killer is one of this little group. Miss Carol breaks down to lay her story on the line. What truths will she spill about herself and Jimmy Parker? A secret is exposed that connects Phillus to an acquaintence of Doc, Mayor, and Captain Friday.
Miss Carol’s grandfather left no inheritance to his surviving family, but rumors of valuable pearls have drawn her to the City of the Dead. Who else knew about the secret of the pearls? Does it include the cemetary caretakers? It might answer the question of the motive behind the wierd events, but now it’s a matter of piecing together who has been sneaking around to do all the crazy things. Tempers flare, and skeletons are resurrected in anexplosive ending.
