Most people live a life, free of trouble, or at least the kind of trouble that awaits Richard Diamond. The action starts with a bar fight over a girl. There’s a murder, a cover up, but a cabbie brings a bit of evidence to his friend Richard Diamond. It’s just a hat, but it’s got blood on it, and a hand gun inside.

Before turning over the evidence to the cops, Richard tries his hand at uncovering all the clues he can. Can he connect the gun to a body? The trail leads through a web of lies, and hushed hints of a love triangle. The cops get involved when they discover the body, and armed with the clues Richard has dug up, they appear to have an open and shut case. Still, Richard isn’t quite convinced.

In search for the red flags in the case, Richard has a run in with a sultry dame, and more bodies threaten to pile up, namely his own. Will Richard manage to live long enough to share his findings with the authorities? The cops are on hand for the loose ends to be tied up, as the killer confesses all.

In epilogue, Richard croons to his girlfriend Hellen, in a few moments of romantic release at the end of his busy day.
