In the process of Spring house cleaning, Gracie has found George’s old vaudeville trunk. She now goes through it with him, and talks about going to see his show, and having a crush on Benny Fields. Note: She really did have a crush on the now little known vaudevillian, Benny Fields, before she married George.
They look at the old pictures of the various acts. There’s even one of Eddie Cantor, what ever happened to him? George tells a little about Eddie’s past, and that he gave George his start in radio, another true fact.
Gracie wants to repay Eddie for giving them their start. They go off to talk to Eddie. Eddie’s wife Ida, played tonight by an actress, tells how little she sees of her husband. They all agree that Eddie needs to slow down, or he’ll hurt himself. He’s so busy, he can hardly stop to give Ida a kiss. Though George tries to get him to slow down, Eddie has too much going on, then George and Gracie go home.
Gracie figures that Eddie would stay home if he was jealous that Ida was having an affair. Will she sacrifice George to woo Ida? Instead without anybody actually doing any love making, she drops hints to Eddie that there’s a mystery man in the picture.
Eddie is determined to shower Ida with gifts to win her affections back. At the same time George goes to Ida to warn her of Gracie’s wild plan to make Eddie jealous. Ida has her own idea, a sedative from her doctor, but first she tells a few tall tales about her wedding day. Eddie arrives, and spots George in his house. He sneaks in and overhears enough of the conversation to think that George and Ida are planning to poison him, and run off together.
Eddie goes to Gracie to tell her what he has learned. At first Gracie misunderstands, and cracks jokes, but Eddie tells her the other man in Ida’s life is George. Bill Goodwin enters to find Gracie and Eddie are depressed at the situation. What can he do to cheer them up? How about a plug for the sponsor, you know it’ll happen.
While Gracie goes to make a pot of coffee, Bill offers Eddie advice. Gracie and Eddie decide to go back to Eddie’s house to make sure it wasn’t just a mistake. As George and Ida talk, it still sounds as though a sinister plot is being formed.
They all confront each other, but will Ida and George be able to convince Eddie of their real plan? Has Eddie learned his lesson?
