Squire is on hand to ask about Duncan Hines arrival in Pine Ridge so he can write up an article for the newspaper. Lum tries to explain that the way the famous food critic operates is to show up unannounced, and not disclose who he is until after the meal has been consumed, and the critique written.
While the restaurant is a booming business, Abner still has to take care of the store, and complains about being overworked.
Upscale dishes are discussed, and what goes into various courses of a fancy meal. The fancy foods, and terminology in the recipe books confuse both Lum and Abner. Entree’s, salads, fruits and nuts, and more all contribute to the confusion factor. Finally Squire comes back with word that Duncan Hines ought to be in town on Monday.
