Luck has been on the side of Hawkeye and his friends. We find them two days later in the Delaware camp. Hawkeye shares stories to remind his friends of some history of the divisions of the Indian tribes. He tells about alliances and enemy tribes and how they developed, all the way down to the last Mohicans.

When Sly Fox shows up at the Delaware camp, will he convince them to give up the ones he is seeking? His flattery and gifts seem to be working.

It’s too late to slip away, so major Duncan tries to deliver his speech. Will the Indians believe another Indian over a white man? Onka steps up to defend his friends. Though the Sly Fox is chased away, Hawkeye knows he won’t be gone for long.
