After a prank phone call to Lum from Abner, which cost Lum a busy phone line, and a shot at a $500 prize. Abner talks with Grandpap. Should he admit to Lum what happened? He’s sure to find out sooner than later, but Abner would rather hold out for later.
Feeling guilty over his trick, Abner now feels obligated to help Lum raise the money he needs to pay for the church piano. Grandpap talks about his experience at playing bingo.
Lum enters, and feeling mighty low. All of his smart ideas he’s had have all turned out bad. Abner does what he can to cheer Lum up, but he’s ready to walk out and hit the road to panhandle.
Pouting about his bad luck, Lum gives Abner his half of the store, his clothes to grandpap, and even his house to Cedric. After Lum leaves, Abner decides to do the right thing, and come clean with Lum about his prank… tomorrow.
