The pie judging is in full swing as we join Lum, Abner, Squire Skimp, and grandpap. Despite cutting small slivers to tast, Lum has had too much pie for comfort. The ladies wait in eager anticipation, but Lum needs more time to decide. To be fair, and since he can no longer tell which pie was different from another, Lum picks one at random.
After waking up after the revolt, Lum goes to find Cedric, so he can get the pies to market. Grandpap talks with Abner about the melee that took place after the judging of the contest.
Lum returns with bad news, the city market wouldn’t take the pies with a sliver taken out of them. What now? A pie eating contest would work, but what about prize money? How’s this going to work out?
