After a brush with an enemy Indian scout, Deerslayer and Judith continue their search for the missing canoes. Managing to return to the lake cottage, Deerslayer and Judith talk with her sister, Heddy about the nautical past of their father.
What secret does Heddy know that Judith doesn’t? What’s in their father’s warchest? Is there a key to be found? If her father is in danger, surely he wouldn’t mind having Judith open it.
