Lum recieves entries for his apple contest in the Jot ‘Em Down store. He anticipates having as much as 60 bushel baskets by the judging of the contest tonight. What’s he hope to do with all these apples? Cedric enters, but he’s collecting fat. It’s still just as important to turn in now as it was during the war. What for? Listen and learn about at least one left over shortage from the war years.

Abner begins to think Lum is off his rocker over his crazy apple contest idea. Lum shares how the contest is to make him enough money to both pay out the prize, and pay for the debt he owes on the church piano he wrecked.

Disturbing word for Lum comes in when the market on the apple industry bottoms out. What will he do now?
