Bracing for the worst from Lum, Abner and grandpap keep an eye on their avenue of retreat. Going to Lum’s, with hat in hand, Abner has trouble confessing his telephone prank that cost Lum a shot at $500 from the radio give away show. Instead, he learns that Lum has been writing down all his old Ed’ards sayings. Is Lum still bent on becoming a bum, and leaving town?
The old guys hem and haw in their confession, but all they can do is tell Lum to be calm. All he can figure out is they’re nervous about something, but they aren’t getting anywhere in what they want to say.
Not able to stand it any longer, Abner blurts out his confession, but Lum is too deep into reading out his new and improved sayings. Back in the store, and just when they think its safe, and Lum is the nicest guy in the world for taking it so well, the slow burn kicks in.
