He is standing in front of a plain background, with his hands in his pockets. Peary was a comedian and actor, best known for his role as "The Great Gildersleeve" on radio and television in the 1940s and 1950s. The photograph conveys a sense of classic Hollywood glamour and style.

As Gildersleeve tries to sneak through the house to put a few gifts under the Christmas tree, Birdie catches him, and manages to wake the house. With everybody up, they spend some family time together, playing with the baby.

Though he tries to be discrete in hiding Christmas presents, LeRoy and Marjorie see through Gildy’s attempts at sneakiness. Later, he visits with Adeline, and he goes over his Christmas list of goodies that he has been trying to hide. When he goes to look for them, the gifts are missing. At first, Gildy isn’t too concerned, thinking that the kids must have discovered the hiding place.

When even Birdie doesn’t know what has happened to them, the possibility that the family has been robbed begins to set in. The cops aren’t too supportive, so Gildy goes to share his troubles with Peavey.

Gildy suspects the Judge as being a kleptomaniac. Can it be true? More items around the house disappear, and Gildy redoubles his efforts to catch the crook. Things come to a light hearted end when the crook turns out to be the family member who wears a diaper, and gurgles.

PS: The winner of the baby name contest is announced. Guess what the name turns out to be? Romerry. Holy cow, and for that they win a car?
