With Joan Banks as Jane Stacey, and Marie Wilson as Irma Peterson. Jane gets a letter from boyfriend, Richard. She and Irma want to make some secret plans, and keep it from Mrs. Riley. They just want a private Thanksgiving dinner between themselves and their boyfriends.
Meanwhile Mrs. Riley is having a little trouble whith her relationship with the professor. His joking around is getting on her nerves. Though the girls want to keep their Thanksgiving plans private, Mrs. Riley drops some heavy hints that she anticipates being invited somewhere for the big event.
Jane sends Irma out for a turkey, and to save money, comes back with a live bird. Thanksgiving is already a big enough ordeal, but toss a live turkey into the mix, and the troubles skyrocket. In even 1948’s society, people had grown out of the habit of putting the ax to their own bird.
The longer she’s around the turkey, Irma gets more attached. Mrs. Riley has a policy against pets. Whether they keep it, or eat it, they’ll be in trouble with the landlady.
It’s off to the butcher shop to do the deed with the turkey, but can Jane go through with it? Can the girls keep their Thanksgiving secrets from Mrs. Riley? It’s getting tougher all the time.
