Amos and Andy – Turkey Trouble, with Retro Plus. ep7, 431119

A close-up photograph of a roasted turkey placed on a table next to a lit fireplace. The turkey is golden-brown and has a crispy exterior, and its wings and legs are neatly tucked in. The table is set with autumn-themed decorations and a few dishes, while the fireplace provides a warm and cozy ambiance with burning logs and a mantle adorned with candles and foliage.

First up, Amos Tells His Story To His Lawyer, 06-28-1929. Amos is in trouble. He has just been released from jail, and has his dander up when a man calls him. The man is someone who also has an interest in Amos girlfriend, Ruby. Andy arrives to let Amos know that Kingfish has a lawyer to handle Amos case. Their friend Sylvester calls with words of encouragement. Amos tells why he was put in jail in the first place. He had somehow been blamed for a robbery. Kingfish comes to the rescue in this episode when he enters with the lawyer, who then takes charge and begins getting the story.

Wow, what a difference the early Kingfish was, compared to the one of later years. He actually is caring and helpful, as opposed to always looking out for himself, and getting his friends into trouble, instead out of it.

Second show: Turkey Trouble, 11-19-1943. . Andy is expecting his nephew Jimmy to be home on leave for Thanksgiving. The proud uncle shares the news. The whole gang do all they can for the big feast. The trouble is the meat shortage is in full swing. Kingfish helps with the wheeling and dealing for the turkey, but ends up dealing Andy out of any available birds. Andy and Kingfish scramble to get more rationing points in hopes of tracking down a turkey. a quest ensues for making this a perfect feast for the anticipated nephew. Will our heros succeed? Can they recieve the priority they are looking for from the rationing board?

It’s not looking good, and bad turns to worse when a letter arrives saying the nephew is bringing a few friends along. Help comes from an unexpected source. The mood turns somber on the big day when word comes that the nephew and his friends have been called into action, and won’t make it to the feast. In his sadness is pride, and inspiration. Andy can’t be with his loved one so he shares with soldiers who are at hand. A touching ending.
