Items in his possession have a monogram that isn’t his initials. Whose hat, and cigarette case does he have, and why? He manages to track down a gal who is supposed to be his girlfriend. Through pointed questions, he tries to gain information on the life that he’s lived the past three years. Is he really guilty of murder?

Newspaper reports fill in more of his story, and events surrounding the murder. Through the ongoing ordeal, he tries to regain any memories of what happened, but they evade his efforts. Will revisiting the crime scene help?
He finds a witness, but the old man is paralized, and can’t talk. Through signals of blinking his eyes, he answers questions, and Dan, Carrey Grant, has an idea who the real killer is. With the cops coming will he get the information he needs to clear himself in time? Who did it? Will he regain his memory?
