Ordinary objects around the house can suddenly become the focus of a story, and that seems to be the case with a shoebox, and Fibber McGee.
When Fibber comes home his shoebox that he thought had his new shoes in it is filled with money. His box somehow got mixed up when he was on the streetcar. Though Fibber wants to roll around in the dough, Molly wants him to do the right thing and return it. When visitors come in the form of Doc Gamble, Fibber tries to keep his new found fortune a secret.
Doc and Fibber match wits, but in their arguing, and in teasing about medical histories, Fibber has his anatomy mixed up a little. Where is an apendix anyway? When Doc leaves, Fibber renews his claim to the cash. Billy Mills plays, So in Love.
Fibber enjoys counting his new found cash, but Molly insists on running a newspaper ad to find the real owner. Teeny pops in for a visit. She tells Fibber about her homelife, and offers her advice for handling Fibbers money. Harlow Wilcox stops in to share his advice for Fibber’s windfall, which of course ends as a commercial.
Mayor Latrivia arrives for his weekly dose of frustrations. He goes over some finer points of the law in regards to finding a large sum of cash. Will he actually convince Fibber to turn the money in? The Kingsmen sing, Gallway Bay.
Downtown, Fibber and Molly run into Wallace Wimple. Wimp has a question about a license, and how to get it revoked. Fibber takes the box of money to the police station where his occupation is called into question. A topic that just about all listeners want to know as well.
In the end, Fibber is spared some trouble with the Secret Service once the truth about t;he billsis revealed. Good thing that Fibber wanted to the right thing all along isn’t it.
