Fibber McGee and Molly – Fishing Season Opens. ep553, 480511

A black and white photograph of Fibber McGee and Molly, a couple from a popular radio show of the same name. They are standing in front of a closet that has been opened, with clothes and other items spilling out onto the floor. Fibber is holding a mop and wearing an apron, while Molly looks on with a smile on her face. The overall effect is one of humor and domesticity, with the couple's playful antics and cluttered living space providing a snapshot of life in mid-century America in 1948.

Molly and Doc Gamble join Fibber for a fishing trip. After a battle of wits, Fibber and Doc make a wager on who can catch the biggest fish. As Doc rows off, Mr Wimple strolls past the boat that Fibber is about to launch. He does, then Billy Mills plays, I May Be Wrong.

While rowing around, the McGee’s talk to another fisherman, Gale Gordon as Foggy Williams the Weatherman. Harlow Wilcox zooms past on a motorboat with the commercial.

Fibber tells about being a Fly Tyer, and the gust of hot air seems to blow the raft to the dock where Teeny is waiting. . They talk about fishing, then the Kingsmen sing, Blue Shadows on the Trail.

The show is nearing a close, so Doc returns to brag about his catch. Molly plays judge, and weighs in the equal looking fish. It’s a close call, but there is a winner.
