Matt rides back to Dodge City, and gets the news updates from Chester. Somehow, I don’t think Chester would make a good gossip columnist. Crusty old General Parsely Smith is soon to report on the kind of news that Matt was looking for. The General registers a complaint that the banker is a shady character and a criminal. He claims that the new banker is a thief.

Matt goes to visit the banker, and in turn, he registers a complaint with Matt about that crazy old General Smith. The banker has an employee, Ed, who is evasive, but Matt thinks he’s seen him somewhere. As Matt and Chester leave, Matt shares that the employee is a hired gunman. Now, wat kind of a banker would hire a gunman? Investigations are made into the backgrounds of the two characters. The general is proved out to be a liar, but can Matt convince him to keep his mouthc closed, and stop making accusations? What connection does Doc have with the General?

With all the proper credentials on the banker’s side, and the General being prooven over again to be a liar, Matt warns the General to get out of Dodge, but word soon comes of a gun battle in progress. Matt tries to break up the tension, but a man is down. The truth about the banker and the General comes out at the end. Well, sort of.
