Lum and Abner – Bob Hope’s Publicity Man. 460514

A mysterious telegram had arrived for Lum and Abner about important business. Today we learn what it’s all about. The day is nearing it’s end, and Lum begins to think there’s nothing going to come of the big important news.

Mr Hatstaff claims to be the publicity agent for Bob Hope. It’s the kind of thing that anybody might think is a practical joke. Despite his efforts to prove that he’s on the up and up, our heros don’t want to be lured in as sucker to some sort of phoney scheme.

The telephone interupts the lengthy discussion. Hatstaff desperately arguing his point, and Lum trying to keep from being taken by a travelling scammer. Who’s on the phone? What will it take to convince Lum and Abner they’re in store for a visit from the world famous radio and movie comedian?

Note: Franklin Graham is Mr Hatstaff, a frequent voice actor on the show. He’s the one who does extra voices on the show that aren’t done by Chet Lauck and Tuffy Goff. . In this short story ark, Frank Graham will be joined by Jerry Hosner as another of Bob Hopes publicity men who pave the way for the big visit.
